WHO IS GUY FAWKES?
Guy Fawkes was an English conspirator in the 17th Century Gunpowder Plot, an unsuccessful plan to blow up Westminster Palace with King James I and the Parliament inside. It was a reprisal for increasing the oppression of Roman Catholics in England.
The British Celebration on Guy Fawkes Day (November 5th) includes fireworks and masked children begging “a penny for the Guy” and burning little effigies of the Conspirator.
