SAGE:

When Sage is burned, it releases positive ions which are linked to putting people into a positive mood. The Latin word for Sage, Salvin, stems from the words heal.

Other qualities believed to be associated with Sage when burned are giving wisdom, clarity and increasing spiritual awareness.

PALO SANTO:

When the wood sticks are burned, the smoke is believed to clear negative energy and restore tranquil and calm emotions. Burning Palo Santo wood creates an uplifting, pleasant, fresh smoke that works to enhance creativity.

The smell is also said to keep away mosquitoes and other insects.

SWEETGRASS:

Clippings of Sweetgrass are usually braided then dried prior to burning. Sweetgrass is valued for its Vanilla-like scent. When burned for ritual or healing purposes, the smoke is thought to attract good spirits and positive energies.

Sweetgrass is usually used after clearing your space with White Sage and/or Palo Santo.

ABALONE SHELL:

Abalone Shells are a thick seashell that shimmers with the iridescent colors of mother of pearl. They hold the energy of the ocean and bring a strong calming and healing energy, allowing you to remain connected to the sea.

A layer of sand placed into the shell will keep the beautiful surface from becoming charred. If the smudge stick has rested in the Abalone Shell for a while, the shell may get hot, so use caution when handling it.

TURKEY FEATHER:

Feathers symbolize freedom, inspiration, forward movement and the ascension of the mind and spirit. They are used to guide the smoke over a person and/or a space.
